Idéos® chewable tablet is a fixed combination of calcium and vitamin D. The high calcium and vitamin D content in each dose unit facilitates absorption of a sufficient quantity of calcium, with a limited number of doses. Vitamin D is involved in calcium-phosphorus metabolism which allows active absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestine and their uptake by bone.

hypersensitivity to vitamin D or to one of the compounds • high calcium levels in blood (hypercalcæmia) • high urinary calcium excretion (hypercalciuria) • renal stones (calcium lithiasis).

use this medicine with precautions in case of : • long term treatment, the urinary calcium excretion must be monitored regularly (calciuria). According to the results, your doctor could reduce or stop your treatment • simultaneous treatment with calcium and vitamin D at high dosage, it is necessary to take this medicine under medical supervision • simultaneous treatments with sodium fluoride or biphosphonate, at least 2 hours should intervene between taking these medicines and IDEOS, and in the event of simultaneous treatment with tetracycline antibiotics, IDEOS should be taken separately (3 hours) • in case of sarcoidosis or renal function disorders. in order to avoid possible interactions between drugs, inform your doctor or your pharmacist of other on-going treatment, in particular digitalis glycosides, tetracyclines, vitamin D, sodium fluoride, biphosphonates, diuretics, antiepileptics, corticoïds. • PREGNANCY - LACTATION : in case of pregnancy, daily dose should not exceed 1 500 mg of calcium and 600 IU of vitamin D3 (i.e. 1 tablet a day).

in case of overdosage of IDÉOS, the following symptoms could occur : nausea, vomiting, severe thirst,constipation. In these cases, contact your doctor immediately. In the event of long term overdosage, vascular and tissular calcifications could occur.

as all active ingredients, this medicine can produce side-effects to some people: constipation or diarrhea • flatulence, stomach upsets • nausea • in the event of long term treatment, calcium levels in blood or in urine can be increased.
