Novartis was created in 1996 from the merger of the Swiss based life sciences companies, Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz.  At the time, the merger was the largest in corporate history. Since the merger, Novartis has transformed itself from a diverse group, including animal health and agribusiness, to a highly focused leading healthcare company.

Novartis Animal Health is dedicated to saving, prolonging and improving animal lives, both pets and farm animals, by researching, developing and bringing to market innovative treatments designed to meet the needs of pet owners, farmers and veterinarians. Together with Novartis Animal Health, Serolf is at the forefront of new and better treatments for the most common pet ailments, such as internal and external parasites and arthritic pain control, as well as kidney, heart and allergic diseases. The majority of these products are available by prescription through veterinarians and dispensing from animal pharmacies.

Headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, and present in almost 40 countries, Novartis Animal Health employs approximately 2,600 associates worldwide. Novartis AH also collaborates with many companies and academic institutions to develop new products, acquire platform technologies, and access new markets.
